Helping a hometown paddler earn a spot on the Olympic team
Burloak Canoe Club was both proud and excited this year when one of their paddlers, Alanna Bray-Loungheed, qualified for a spot on the Tokyo 2021 Olympic team.
Alanna joined the club at 10 years old as a youth sprint athlete. Burloak Canoe Club is a one of Canada’s leading flat-water Olympic canoe-kayak racing clubs providing training programs for members of all ages and levels of experience. Alanna’s mother, Sandy, has spent many nights over the years volunteering at the local Charitable Gaming Centre to raise money to pay staff and supply new equipment to shape the next generation of champions.
Sandy, Alanna, and all of the members of the club are grateful for everything these funds have made possible and for the dreams they’ll make come true in the years to come.
This program has been made possible in part thanks to Charitable Gaming, Community Good funding.
